OUR STORY
Muhimu Oils Wellness Center was born from lived experience, deep care, and a calling that could no longer be ignored. Come closer so you can understand us a bit more.
Before there was a business, there was a moment that shaped everything. Dr. JuNene K. became the primary caregiver for her brother during his vegetative state, tending to him with unwavering presence while navigating her own life, education, and responsibilities. The realization: Healing extends beyond the physical. It calls for emotional awareness, energetic alignment, and a deeper connection to the body’s innate intelligence.
After surviving her own heart health journey and experiencing the loss of a childhood friend in 2021, clarity arrived. It was time to guide others into awareness that each person holds the power to Be Your Own Healer.
In March 2022, Muhimu Oils was established. Muhimu, meaning essential in Swahili, reflects the intention behind every product and service we offer. With a $15,000 grant and a clear vision, a space was secured inside Inwood Bank (Desoto, TX). We began curating products designed to support the body and mind. Teas, tinctures, oils, balms, soaps, and candles filled the shelves, each one created to restore connection and empower personal wellness.
By 2023, that vision expanded into something greater. We raised $65,000 in private funding and secured a $50,000 grant from the City of DeSoto, bringing the dream of a 3,100 square foot wellness center to life. The space was imagined to include a massage room, yoga and movement studio, juice, coffee, and tea bar, a BrainTap room, consultation space, and a classroom for education and transformation. With $50,000 remaining to complete the project, Dr. JuNene K. pursued traditional funding and received 11 bank denials.
That moment refined the vision.
What once lived as a fully built-out center now lives as a focused, intentional space inside The DEC Network. Muhimu Oils Wellness Center continues to grow as a movement. The mission has expanded to empower individuals to Be Your Own Healer and generate income while doing it, creating both personal and financial alignment. The I Am Healed Period Ambassador Program educates entrepreneurs on how to use 2 tools to make over $22K/month. That's Our Story and it's being reshaped daily.
